Trump sets Saturday Wheeling appearance

WHEELING — President Donald Trump will be in Wheeling Saturday for a “Make America Great Again” rally set for WesBanco Arena, his campaign announced Sunday.

The event, set for 7 p.m., will feature the president showcasing the nation’s growing economy and also stressing the importance of the midterm elections, particularly the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin and West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.

This will mark President Trump’s fourth rally in West Virginia and his first “Make America Great Again” rally in Wheeling. He visited Wheeling in 2016 prior to the general election as a guest of Murray Energy Corp. CEO Robert Murray for an event also at WesBanco Arena.

“The president looks forward to celebrating the growing success of the Trump economy and encouraging West Virginians to get out and vote for Patrick Morrisey for the U.S. Senate,” said Michael Glassner, chief operating officer for Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.

The event is free and open to the public, with general admission seating. Doors at WesBanco Arena open at 4 p.m. Saturday. Tickets can be reserved at donaldjtrump.com/rallies/wv-sept-2018.

Parking can be found at the Robert C. Byrd Intermodal Transportation Center on Main Street; the 10th Street or Center Wheeling garages; or at other lots in the downtown area.

The event follows a July visit to Wheeling from Vice President Mike Pence.

During that trip to West Virginia, Pence touted the nation’s economic growth.
