Weirton Greek Festival to begin Thursday

WEIRTON — It’s that time of year again.

All Saints Greek Orthodox Church is preparing for the 31st-annual Weirton Greek Festival, to be held Thursday through Saturday on the church grounds at 3528 West St.

Activities will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with food, music, hospitality and more.

This year organizers are adding more tents to cover the festival area. The beverage booth menu also is being expanded to include grape leaves and sno-cones.

There will be Greek American Trivia with Olivia at 1 p.m. Saturday, with the winner receiving a Weirton Greek Festival gift certificate.

Nick Tranto is serving as festival chair.

The Weirton Greek Festival features a variety of homemade Greek food, such as pastichio, lamb, grape leaves, loukaniko and spanakopita.

Pastries including baklava, koulourakia, galatobouriko and more.

Daily entertainment will be provided with a disc jockey in the afternoons, the Greek Company Orchestra beginning at 6 p.m. and the Aegean Dancers at 7 p.m. Guided tours of the Byzantine church will be available daily at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

There is no charge to attend or park at the festival, and elevator access to the hall and church is available.

Pre-order and take-out will be available, with credit cards accepted at the gyro booth and the inside food and pastry lines.
