Wellsville, Blue Line to part ways

WELLSVILLE — Village officials will be looking for a new traffic camera provider and a different source of regular income, as its current camera provider will part ways with the village next month.

Blue Line Solutions LLC is terminating its agreement with the village regarding the traffic camera safety program, a move announced during Tuesday’s meeting of the village’s Financial Planning and Supervision Commission.

Mayor Nancy Murray said Blue Line issued its 30-day notice via e-mail and certified letter last week that it was backing out of its agreement with the village, which started last summer as council agreed to institute the program, following suit of East Liverpool and Liverpool Township.

Blue Line provided cameras and equipment at no cost to the village and received 40 percent of the fine money.

“This is just my personal opinion, but collections weren’t high enough,” Murray said. “They didn’t put any reason in the e-mail stating their reason to cancel. No phone call or nothing from them, just an e-mail.”

Financial Supervisor Tisha Turner said the program had brought in around $22,000 for the year as of May 31.

Murray said police Chief Ed Wilson will be looking for another company to partner with for the camera program and also said the village will turn all equipment back to the company within the next few weeks.
