Wells Township trustees make health provider change

BRILLIANT — Wells Township trustees during the May 8 meeting agreed to change the township’s health provider.

Trustee John Goosman said the health plan for the township now will be with Andus, which is an acutarial based claim paying company. Dental and vision insurance will be provided through EPIC, it was noted. Those age 65 and older will be placed on United Health Care AARP Plan F, and will use Silverscripts for prescriptions, officials said.

In other matters, Bob Kovach discussed property on Plum Run, where a trailer recently was demolished. Water drainage and backup on that roadway also were discussed, and officials noted that beaver dams are causing some of the problems.

In other business:

¯ Trustees approved bills totaling $83,784.12.

¯ Trustee Ron Lazear said no prisoners from the Jefferson County Jail are available to mow grass at cemeteries.

¯ Solicitor Bruce Clark told trustees he has been working on two competing lease offers for approximately 2 acres in the township. The final version of the lease offers should be available at the next meeting, it was noted.

¯ Goosman said the Jefferson County commissioners approved a $7,300 grant to assemble the recreation equipment purchased last year for the township park.

¯ Officials said property at 329 Market St. has been demolished.

¯ Officials noted paperwork is complete for a possible $84,000 grant for storm damage repair in the township. Road Superintendent John Keyoski was lauded for time spent preparing the grant application.
