Wintersville man arrested after alleged gun incident

STEUBENVILLE — A Wintersville man was arrested Sunday evening after he allegedly pulled out and pointed a gun during a traffic altercation, City Police reported.

A male driver said he was turning around at Cleveland Avenue and Rockdale Road around 7:41 p.m. Sunday when he cut off another vehicle, police reported. The male driver said a man driving the other car, later identified as Robert C. Brandon, 22, of 181 Stardust Drive, Wintersville, pulled out a handgun, put a magazine in the gun and charged it, putting a bullet in the chamber, an officer said. The male driver claimed Brandon pointed the handgun at him and then drove away, police reported.

Police were searching for the vehicle when it was seen around 9:51 p.m. Sunday.

An officer pulled over the vehicle at Sinclair Avenue and John Scott Highway. A female driver asked the officer if the stop was in connection with the Cleveland Avenue incident, an officer said. The female then told police the gun was located in the glove box. An officer asked Brandon where the magazine for the gun was located, and he said it was in the pouch behind the driver’s seat.

Police took Brandon to the Jefferson County jail on charges of aggravated menacing and carrying a concealed weapon.

Brandon said the other driver began to yell at him on Cleveland Avenue, so he pulled out the gun, police reported. Brandon denied pointing the gun at the other driver, police reported.
