Authorities look at Tiltonsville incident

STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into an incident in which a man apparently jumped out of a moving vehicle in Tiltonsville on Monday afternoon.

The original call indicated that a juvenile had been hit by a vehicle, and that vehicle had then left the scene.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the patrol were called around 3:12 p.m. on Monday to the 200 block of Mound Street. Witnesses reported seeing two men checking on the victim, who turned out to be an adult, and then running back to the vehicle and leaving the scene, according to Sheriff Fred Abdalla.

The victim, who suffered a head injury, was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he was reported in stable condition, according to the patrol.

The driver of the vehicle which left the scene turned himself in at the Martins Ferry police station a short time later, the patrol reported. Patrol investigators interviewed the driver, but the other person and the victim still have to be questioned, the patrol reported.
