Route 7 blasting set for Wednesday
BRILLIANT — Blasting is scheduled for between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday along state Route 7 at Rush Run, the Ohio Department of Transportation reported.
A boulder fell from the hillside in August during the slope stabilization project along the highway.
Expert slope constructors have assisted ODOT to stabilize the outer portions of the failure area during the last few months.
State Route 7 traffic will be stopped in both north and southbound directions for 15 minutes while blasting occurs, according to ODOT.
The road will remain one lane in each direction during the remainder of the construction. ODOT said once the hazard is removed, the highway can be restored to four lanes and paved in the spring.
