SVRTA offers bus trips to Pittsburgh
STEUBENVILLE — The Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority will offer bus service from the Fort Steuben Mall to Weirton Medical Center and areas in Allegheny County, Pa., including Settler’s Ridge at Giant Eagle and the Mall at Robinson near the food court, as well as TJ Maxx at the Robinson Town Center Plaza starting Saturday.
Transit Manager Frank Bovina said the service will be available for the next three Saturdays.
According to Bovina, the expanded holiday service is in response to requests.
“If it is successful, there will be more runs in the future,” Bovina continued.
The SVRTA buses will leave the Fort Steuben Mall at 10:45 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the three Saturdays.
“Robinson Township has become the de facto shopping destination for most everyone in our community, but that leaves fewer options for those without reliable, consistent transportation. We are always looking for ways to better serve the needs of our riders, and this was a way that we felt we could bring more options and maybe a little more cheer for our riders during the holidays,” stated Bovina.
He noted seating is limited, and anyone who wants to be guaranteed a seat on the expanded Robinson routes should call the SVRTA office at (740) 282-6145 to reserve their spot.
“This is an exciting expansion of service for us because it means so much to our riders and gives us the chance to reach riders who may get around fine locally, but don’t have access to transportation into Pittsburgh,” added Bovina.
