Debbie and Randy Stevens of Colliers won a 2017 Ford Escape SUV in a fundraising drawing held by the Indian Creek High School Marching Band. On hand for the presentation were, from left, band boosters President Kurt Williams; Matt Allietta of Allietta Ford, which provided the vehicle, valued at $25,000; Randy Stevens Jr., Debbie Stevens and Randy Stevens; Indian Creek Superintendent T.C. Chappelear;and Gracie Allietta. More than $39,000 was raised, Williams said of the sales effort, which began in June. He added proceeds will be shared, and the students will get money for their band accounts, with the rest going for the car and the band’s general fund. Debbie Stevens, who purchased the winning ticket, said had won a $250 gift card basket during a band drawing last year. “It was a successful fundraiser and it’s great to see the support it received and to watch people come away with a new car,” Chappelear noted. Officials plan to continue collections to update band uniforms, adding the next campaign will help generate money for the band’s planned trip to Hawaii in the spring of 2019. Williams said students will sell homemade pepperoni rolls in November to help defray their individual costs for the trip.
