Steubenville sets schedule for fall large item cleanup
STEUBENVILLE –The city sanitation department will conduct a fall clean-up collection starting Oct. 14, according to Street and Sanitation Superintendent Bob Baird.
“This collection is for city residents with active utility accounts, and is limited to household items. All items must be placed at the curb where regular trash collections occur each week. The items should not be placed at the curb any sooner than the night before the scheduled collection. Once the schedule is completed there will be no return trips,” said Baird.
According to Baird the collections will start on Oct. 14 in the LaBelle neighborhood and will continue on:
¯ Oct. 21, on all streets in the Pleasant Heights neighborhood;
¯ Oct. 28, in the city’s South End from Market Street to the south city limits and from Spring Avenue to state Route 7, including Lincoln Heights, and the North End from Alikanna to Market Street and from 11th Street to state Route 7;
¯ Nov. 4, on the north side of Sunset Boulevard from Brady Avenue to the west city limits, including Brady Avenue.
¯ Nov. 11, on the south side of Sunset Boulevard from McCauslen Manor to the west city limits.
“We have changed the schedule from the spring collection schedule, so please check the dates for your neighborhood. The clean-up collection will not be provided to those who do not have an active and current utility account with the city or are found to be abusing the program,” warned Baird.
Baird said items prohibited from the clean-up include tires of any kind; electronics, including computers and televisions; items containing freon gases including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and dehumidifiers; hazardous wastes; petrochemicals, such as fuels, oils, solvents and paints; and construction material, including shingles, plaster, drywall, concrete, block and brick.
