Boy sworn in as honory police officer

Gavin Campbell, left, was sworn in as an honorary Wellsville police officer during a special ceremony held recently. Gavin, who is battling cancer, was given a ride to the event by Fairview firefighters and was sworn in by Wellsville Mayor Nancy Murray, who also is fighting cancer. Wellsville police Officer Joy Rayl placed an official WPD hat on Gavin’s head. Officers from Wellsville, Liverpool Township, Weirton, Toronto and Saline Township police department; the Ohio State Highway Patrol; and Hancock County Sheriff’s Department were on hand, along with firefighters from Wellsville, Empire, Knoxville, Irondale, Stratton and Glenmoor.
