The patrol reported a 2007 Scion TC2, driven by Jacob H. Ryan, 23, of Cambridge drifted left of center and attempted to swerve back into the eastbound lanes when it lost control, sliding back into the westbound lanes, striking a 2014 Nissan Rogue head-on.

Ryan was flown by medical helicopter to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition, a trooper said.

U.S. Route 22 was closed for about three and one-half hours during the investigation of the accident. The patrol reported seat belts were worn by all the occupants in the Nissan, and Ryan wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Department responds to garage fire

STEUBENVILLE — City firefighters were called around 3:45 p.m. Sunday to a report of a garage on fire in the rear of 1336 Pennsylvania Ave.

The fire department reported the detached three-bay garage was fully involved in flames upon arrival. Power lines were reported down, and AEP was contacted to respond.

The house suffered minor damage from the fire, a firefighter said.

City Police reported a witness said a man and woman broke a glass window on the door to the residence, entered it for a few minutes, exited and walked down the street. Another witness reported seeing a man, dressed in similar clothing to the person who went into the house, walk into the garage and leave before the fire was detected.
