Birthday bash

The members of the family of the late Lee West gathered Saturday at Belleview Park for an early birthday party for Lee. Lee died on Jan. 31, 2011, the victim of an accidental fire at his house. He would have turned 21 years old this month. The annual celebration featured a clown performance, games, music and food. The City Fire Department had a truck available for kids to tour. Cookie West, Lee’s mother, said the day was a “nice opportunity for love and fellowship.” Cookie West and her family started the Lee Alexander West Spiritual Movement shortly after Lee’s death to help people in the community.
