Three face charges in two local drug raids

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Drug Task Force took three people into custody during two drug raids on Tuesday and seized a large amount of cocaine and heroin.

The drug task force executed a search warrant at a house at 744 Rosswell Ave. on Tuesday evening.

Jason Hanlin of the task force said three controlled buys of heroin were made from the house.

Makayla Thompson, 27, of the residence is facing three counts of heroin trafficking and two counts of possession of heroin and cocaine, Hanlin said.

The drug task force seized 60 grams of cocaine and 50 grams of heroin and a couple of thousand dollars in cash, Hanlin said.

Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said there were four children in the house, including a 7-month-old baby.

The drug task force earlier on Tuesday raided a home at 204 E. First St., Mingo Junction.

Hanlin said three controlled drug buys were made at the home.

Samuel Jones, 45, and Lawrence Murray, 44, both of the residence, were arrested. Jones is facing charges of two counts of drug trafficking, and

Murray faces a charge of crack cocaine possession, which was found on him during the arrest, Hanlin said.
