Prisoner escapes from Trinity Medical Center West
STEUBENVILLE — City Police are looking for a prisoner who ran away from Trinity Medical Center West on Wednesday in a hospital gown and then allegedly entered a home on Terri Avenue to get clothing.
Frank W. Delguzzi, 33, of 739 N. Fifth St. was arrested Monday on charges of petit theft and falsification and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
Police reported he claimed to have an ankle injury on Wednesday and was transported to the hospital by an officer to be checked out.
The officer said he told Delguzzi not to leave the hospital or he would be charged with escape.
The hospital contacted police around noon on Wednesday that Delguzzi was ready to be taken back to the jail. But the hospital called a couple of minutes later saying Delguzzi had run out of the hospital, dressed in a hospital gown, and into the woods.
Officers and the K-9 tracked Delguzzi through surrounding neighborhoods and came upon a house on Terri Avenue with an open window. The owner was called and came to the house and let officers inside, police reported. The hospital gown was found inside and clothing was taken, according to police.
Delguzzi now faces several felony charges.
Delguzzi is described as being 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair, which is balding in the front.
