Black History Fact

In celebration of Black History Month, we are saluting area black leaders throughout February who have made or are making an impact on local communities.

In 1984, Barbara Hubbard was appointed by former Gov. Richard Celeste to the board of trustees of the former Jefferson Technical College. She was the first black to serve on the board and held the position of secretary from 1986-90. She received a resolution of appreciation from then college President Edward Florak in May 1990 for her service.
