TORONTO — The city high school marching band will be hosting its annual varsity show on two dates this year — at 7 p.m. on Nov. 4 and 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 6.

The concerts will be held in the high school cafetorium, according to Kara Kordella, school band director.

“It will feature the marching band’s music from the marching band season,” said Kordella, adding the theme is “A Hot Track Flashback.”

“It takes (the listener) through music through the decades. We’ll start with oldies such as ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ and ‘Hooked on a Feeling,'” she continued. “We’re also performing an ’80s flashback show, with songs such as ‘Freezeframe’ and ‘Open Arms.'”

The band’s last show featured radio hits from the past year, including “Hello” and “Feel This Moment,” which Kordella noted also will be performed at the varsity show.

“(The show) also will feature the traditional songs the band has played for years,” she said.

“We’re featuring color guard soloists during each show, including Cassidy Ingram and Nina Shook,” Kordella said.

Jack Karaffa and Sydney Taggart will be trumpet soloists, while Dustin Henry will perform trombone solos. Kordella said Nichole Locke, assistant band director, and Shaunnessy Anderson, color guard instructor, assisted with planning for the show.

The Toronto band parents will be selling concessions at the show.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children, pupils and students. For information, call (740) 537-2442.
