STEUBENVILLE — The What’s Up Downtown event this month will feature the Antique Warehouse located in the former Denmark’s store building on Market street Wednesday evening.

According to Ken Smith, owner of the Antique Warehouse, the event will start at 5 p.m. and continue to 7 p.m.

“But as long as we have visitors in the building we will stay open,” Smith said.

“The Taco Juarez trailer will be parked in front of the Antique Warehouse offering a variety of foods and we will have complimentary coffee, cookies, nachos, chips and dip in the store as well,” continued Smith.

The Steubenville Revitalization Group organizes the What’s Up Downtown throughout the year to highlight businesses and organizations in the downtown area of the city.

Smith opened the Antique Warehouse in June with the idea of providing space for vendors to sell their items.

“I act as the landlord. The vendors mark the price on their items, I collect the purchase money and pay the sales tax. I now have 54 vendors renting space in the warehouse, and it is a growing business. I am now working to add architectural salvaged items in the basement of the building. We have everything from crocks to jewelry to furniture to gardening tools and almost everything else antique,” according to Smith.

“This is an excellent chance for people to stop by our business Wednesday and walk around the Antique Warehouse and find something special. We have visitors come in and tell us they had no idea all of this was available in downtown Steubenville. I have told them this is just the beginning,” Smith said.

He said he used to visit the former Denmark store with his mother.

“I bought the building and did most of the renovation work myself. We held our grand opening ceremony in September and had a lot of visitors on that day. We are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week and parking is just around the corner. I will welcome our regular customers and new visitors to the store Wednesday evening to see what our vendors have available,” commented Smith.

“The items available are always changing. And several of our vendors have sales going on right now, so it is a good time to shop for a Christmas present for yourself or someone you know who likes and values antiques,” said Smith.
