Together for a Cure slated for Saturday
STEUBENVILLE — The boys and girls soccer teams from Indian Creek, Steubenville, Steubenville Catholic Central and Edison High Schools will come Together for a Cure during Saturday’s fourth-annual soccer tournament and breast cancer awareness fundraiser at Harding Stadium.
The soccer players will be looking to beat their local competitors and to raise enough money to help those who suffer from cancer.
Proceeds from the day will be donated to the Trinity Emergency Assistance Relief fund at Trinity Health System’s Teramana Cancer Center. Last year the event generated $19,678.80 for the fund.
Sponsorships from area businesses have helped make previous events a success and are available at various levels. Organizers have said any donation or sponsorship will be appreciated, and checks can be mailed to Steubenville City Schools; P.O. Box 189, Steubenville, OH 43952.
Saturday’s event will include a Chinese auction, a calendar drawing, school spirit basket auctions, 50/50 drawings and events for children.
Soccer begins at 10 a.m. when the Central and Indian Creek boys meet. At noon, the Edison and Indian Creek girls play, at 2 p.m. the Big Red and Edison boys meet and at 4 p.m. the Big Red and Central girls will meet.
