BOWERSTON — The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Brent M. Copeland, 28, of Bowerston was killed in a single-vehicle wreck that occurred around 5:35 a.m. Tuesday on Plum Run Road (county Road 8).
Copeland was operating a 2004 Toyota Tundra northbound on Plum Run Road, when the pickup went off the right side of the roadway and then overcorrected, the patrol reported. The vehicle then traveled off the left side of the road striking a guardrail and a tree, a trooper reported.
Copeland wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, the patrol reported.
The investigation is continuing.

FOLLANSBEE — An accident Tuesday that resulted in a young girl being hit by a box truck and transported by medical helicopter to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital remains under investigation.
City Police Chief John Schwertfeger didn’t release the name of the girl, who he said was about 10. He said she was conscious at the scene but complained of pain to her leg.
Schwertfeger said speed didn’t appear to be a factor in the accident, which involved a box truck traveling south on state Route 2 near a school bus stop at the south end of town at about 7:45 a.m.
“We’re gathering information. It’s still under investigation,” he said.
Schwertfeger praised the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department and Ambulance Service, Follansbee Fire Department and his own officers for their fast response to the accident.
