Indian Creek ready for new year
WINTERSVILLE – All Indian Creek School District pupils and students in grades third through 12th will begin school on Aug. 27. A full day of classes is scheduled with bus service available.
Cafeteria service will be available at all schools. Lunch prices are $2.20 for elementary school pupils; $2.45 for secondary pupils; perky pizza for $2.95 at the high school only; milk, 50 cents; and reduced lunches at 40 cents.
Preschool orientation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 27-29 at each elementary school. Preschool teachers will schedule times to meet with parents. Testing for kindergarten pupils will be Aug. 27-29. Kindergarten teachers will notify parents when their child is to be tested.
Screening for pupils in first and second grades will be Aug. 27-28. Teachers will contact parents regarding times. First- and second-grade classes begin Aug. 29.
Preschool and kindergarten pupils will begin Sept. 2, and pupils will follow full schedules with free lunches through Sept. 5. Parents of preschoolers will be contacted concerning busing.
Seventh- and eighth-graders can pick up schedules and supplies from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 22. An open house is set from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 26.
On Monday schedules for high school students will be available from 9 a.m. to noon each day in the guidance office, including seniors, Monday; juniors, Aug. 19; sophomores, Aug. 20; and freshmen, Aug. 21. The freshmen focus camp will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the high school.
Freshmen orientation and an open house will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 25 in the gym, where those students will receive homeroom and locker assignments and schedules, as well as pay any fees required.
New students to the district should register prior to their grade’s opening day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the principal’s office.
Previous school records, immunization records, proof of birth and Social Security number are required.
Open houses are set from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 25 for Wintersville Elementary; 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 25, Hills Elementary; 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 26, Indian Creek Middle School; and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Indian Creek High School. Activities will include presentations by teachers, parents and guests in a group setting.
Before-care programs begin the first day of school Aug. 27 and include 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. for kindergarten through sixth grades at Hills Elementary and 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Wintersville Elementary for $2 per day.
After-care programs are 2:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the library/media center for $4 for full pay, $3 for reduced status and $2 for free status at Hills Elementary; and 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the library/media center for pupils in grades kindergarten through fourth grades.
Fifth and sixth-grade pupils using the before/after-school programs will be transported by bus from Hills Elementary to the middle school in the morning and from the middle school to Hills Elementary in the afternoon.
Parents are guardians are responsible for picking up pupils at Hills Elementary.
