Fair’s smallest among first picked as winners

SMITHFIELD – One of the first shows for the Jefferson County Junior Fair was the small animal show held Tuesday morning.

Jonathan Vance of the Ridge Hoppers 4-H Club had the best of show with his cat in the senior 14 and over category.

Along with Vance in the senior category were Emily Fox, Country Kids, second; and Karacel Hayman, Golden Horseshoe, third.

In the cats junior category were Chesney Swickard, Country Rangers, first; and Elijah Fox, Country Kids, second.

Hamster winner in the junior category was Haley Moodie Capozzi of the Boots ‘n’ Britches 4-H Club.

The pocket pets senior winner was Brianna Pasco, a Boots ‘n’ Britches member.

Guinea pigs , junior winner, was Sierra Wells, Country Rangers. Others placing were Ashlee Malechowski, Golden Horseshoe, second; Abigail Lish, Golden Horseshoe, third; and Dana Kellar, Purple Circle, fourth.

The small exotic animals junior winner was Hunter Klinesmith, a Country Classics 4-H Club member.

The turtles junior category winner was Courtney Cooley, a Country Classics 4-H Club member. Others placing were Klinesmith, second; and Harold “Russ” Cooley, Country Classics, third.
