All-clear given in Trinity West gas leak

STEUBENVILLE – Trinity Medical Center West was declared safe at 11:35 a.m. today, and normal operations are resuming after the Medical Pavilion was evacuated earlier today when staff members and patients noticed a strong odor of natural gas.

According to Keith Murdock, Trinity director of community relations and development, all buildings on Trinity West campus are clear, including the Medical Pavilion and the Teramana Cancer Center.

The leak still has not been found, Murdock said. Assistant Fire Chief Mike Taylor of the Steubenville Fire Department, said the odor apparently did not originate on Trinity’s campus.

Crews from Columbia Gas are continuing to search between Trinity West and Mount Calvary Cemetery.
