Family not injured by fire at residence

WINTERSVILLE – The cause of a fire that destroyed a home at 335 Patton Ave. Thursday morning hasn’t been determined.

Wintersville Fire and Rescue Chief Rob Herrington said the source of the blaze isn’t known.

He said Nancy McAdam, who lives there, told him she had gone to her father’s home next door about 15 or 20 minutes before and hadn’t been cooking or doing anything that could have led to the blaze.

Herrington said McAdam’s dog also was outside when the fire occurred and wasn’t harmed.

He said the Wintersville, Belvedere and Richmond fire departments were dispatched at about 9:22 a.m. and found the home fully involved.

Herrington said the firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, which spread to a small part of one of several tall pine trees in front of the house, in about 10 minutes.
