Buckeye Local OKs teaching contracts
CONNORVILLE – A number of the items on the agenda for the regular monthly meeting of the Buckeye Local School District Board of Education were requirements of closing one school year and making preparations for the next.
District Superintendent Mark Miller reported to the board a slate of 144 students, and one international student, as members of the high school’s Class of 2014.
Graduation is set for June 1 at the stadium in Yorkville, beginning at 6 p.m., weather permitting. The alternate location will be in the high school gym.
Multi-year teaching contracts were approved by the board.
Awarded five-year contracts were Deanna Flint, Thomas O’Connell, Amanda Polen, Joshua Rinkes and Roger Roberts.
Awarded three-year contracts were Kimberly Amos, Glen Chevalier, Stephanie Crust, Christine DeFede, Kylie McCombs, Caleb Myers, Kelli Naylor and Mia Zamana.
Awarded two-year contracts were Lacy Canestraro, Jason Dean, Lucas Fabry, Scott Hughes, Leanne Long Hutton, Emily Long, Melissa Rico, Burke Sullivan, Shawnna Worrewll and Tricia Zaccagnini.
Miller confirmed the last day of school for students this year is May 28. The last day for teachers is May 29. He announced the district will observe Staff Appreciation Week Monday through May 9.
Also, he noted the formal induction ceremony for the high school chapter of the National Honor Society will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 18.
The next meeting of the board is set for 6 p.m. May 19 in the Yorkville City Building.
