Steubenville finance department recognized
STEUBENVILLE – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded the certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Steubenville Finance Office for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2012.
According to a press release issued by the organization, the certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
Stephen Gauthier of the Chicago-based GFOA, said an award of financial reporting achievement has been awarded to Finance Director Alyssa N. Kerker for preparing the comprehensive annual financial report.
“The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the comprehensive annual financial report,” said Gauthier.
Kerker said this was the fifth consecutive year the city has won the award.
Kerker is leaving the finance director’s job this month.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
