Pennsylvania man pleads guilty in sex case

COLUMBUS – An Oakdale, Pa., man who was charged with using a computer to attempt to have sexual conduct with a 13-year-old boy in Jefferson County pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court to a federal charge.

Brian K. Boone was arrested in October by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents and FBI agents?

Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said Boone contacted the 13-year old, and the teen immediately told his father who brought him to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Abdalla said he interviewed the boy and then talked to Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents who were here in the county on another case. BCI offered technical expertise and a BCI agent started playing the role of the 13-year-old. Boone contacted the teen again and then traveled to Jefferson County where he was met by my deputies, BCI agents and FBI agents, Abdalla said.

Boone initially was indicted by the Jefferson County grand jury on a charge of importuning in December but the case was dismissed a month later when it was filed in federal court.

According to the plea agreement in federal court, Boone faces a maximum prison sentence of 30 years but the agreements states the U.S. Attorney’s Office and his defense attorney believe that a prison sentence of five years is more appropriate.

Abdalla said a “quite a bit” of pornographic material was found in Boone’s home.

The federal court plea agreement calls for Boone to forfeit computer equipment and pornographic material found at his home.

A sentencing date has not been set for Boone.
