Edison school board adopts 2014-15 calendar

HAMONDSVILLE -The changing of the school calendar year from days to hours was discussed during Thursday’s Edison Local School Board meeting.

“We just amended our 2014-2015 school year calendar to reflect the recent legislation with the new snow contingency plan,” said Bill Beattie, district superintendent, adding the state is giving school districts four additional snow days next year. “Our plan also is moving from days to hours.”

Beattie said the current state minimum for pre-kindergarten to sixth grade is 910 hours; and seventh grade to 12th grade 1,001 hours.

“Our hours are well above the state minimum,” he said, adding the district has 1,162 hours scheduled for all grades next year.
