Harrison Hills closes out 2013

CADIZ – The Harrison Hills City Schools Board of Education met to close out 2013.

In matters of personnel, supplemental coaches were approved for the 2013-14 school year, including William Walker as freshman boys basketball coach.

Judy May was given the board’s approval as OVLA math coach in grades seven through 12. Also, Ashley Jacobsen and Donna Pendleton were confirmed as educational aides for pre-kindergarten at Harrison North Elementary School, and Angie Johnson was approved as an educational aide at Harrison North.

Others approved by the school board included Christopher Dyer as a substitute teacher and Audra Sall as substitute aide, as well as Jarrett Fuchs and Andrew Corder as volunteers at Harrison East Elementary.

In other matters, board members OK’d appointing Bonnie Cowens to the Puskarich Public Library board. The term begins Wednesday and ends on Dec. 31, 2020.

Board members also approved the new substitute classified wage increase effective Wednesday.

All classified positions, except bus drivers, will earn $7.95 per hour and bus drivers earn $12.10.

The change is required due to Ohio’s minimum wage changes from $7.85 to $7.95 effective Wednesday.

In matters of business, the board:

– Accepted applications for 11 interdistrict and intradistrict students and approved their attendance under the district’s open enrollment program for the 2013-14 school year.

The next organizational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 in the administrative office, with a budget hearing to take place 6:45 p.m.
