Fire marshal looks for arsonist
TILTONSVILLE – The state fire marshal’s office is seeking tips and any information on a string of suspected arsons in the southern portion of Jefferson County during the past two months.
The marshal’s office issued a press release Thursday calling for the public’s assistance in solving four arsons since early October in the area. All were residential dwellings, according to the release.
The addresses and dates of the fires included at 21 Waldon Ave., Tiltonsville, on Oct. 9; 520 Ohio St., Tiltonsville, Oct. 19; 210 Washington St., Yorkville, Oct. 25; and 320 Ohio St., Tiltonsville, Nov. 15.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the state fire marshal for any information that leads to the identification of any individual or individuals involved in the fires, according to officials.
“It is imperative that individuals come forward (with information),” said Larry Flowers, state fire marshal. “Investigators want to hear from anyone who saw something out of the ordinary at or around the times of the fires or who may have heard someone speaking about the fires with an unusual level of interest or knowledge.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the fire marshal’s office, at (800) 589-2728.
