Residents signing on to watch in Tiltonsville
TILTONSVILLE – The recent neighborhood watch meeting in Tiltonsville was very successful, with several residents signing up to participate in the program, according to Mayor Kris Prati.
She reported to village council about the meeting, adding application forms are available in the water board office, at tiltonsvillepolice.com or by calling her at (740) 859-2551.
The program, which has been discussed during council sessions, is being organized, and it is hoped that many of the village residents will participate in the program.
Prati also mentioned the village’s Support Our Troops sign has deteriorated. She and council members discussed the possibility of replacing it with a 4-by-4 aluminum sign. The mayor will obtain prices and present them at council’s next regular meeting.
In other matters, Tiltonsville Postmaster Marsha Sines asked council to clear up some matters related to the post office. She said there is the Tiltonsville post office as well as a village post office.
The Tiltonsville post office on Grandview Avenue is open from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. It is a full-service post office.
Sines explained there also is a village post office at Express Auto and Tire Service, 115 Third St., where individuals may obtain flat-rate boxes to prepare for mailing. Also, Tim Robb, owner of Express Auto, sells books of stamps.
The postmaster also said residents may go to the Yorkville or Rayland post offices. The Yorkville Post Office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Work is being done to upgrade the handicapped ramp at the Tiltonsville post office, according to Sines.
Police Chief Jerry Davis noted there is a village ordinance against placing campaign signs in the tree lawn (the area between the sidewalk and the street), so he requested that signs not be placed there.
Council approved a resolution to increase the general fund budget to cover expenditures.
The next regular meeting of council will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5.
