Bucs’ fans could be left in the dark Friday

STEUBENVILLE – Friday’s National League Divisional Series matchup between the Pirates and Cardinals could leave a big part of the Pittsburgh team’s local fan base in the dark.

The MLB Network is slated to carry Game 2 of the series, beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.

That network, however, isn’t universally available in the Tri-State Area. While MLB is part of the channel lineup for Comcast’s subscribers in Weirton, for instance, it’s not offered in communities like Steubenville, Wintersville, Follansbee and Wellsburg, nor is it available to Jefferson County Cable subscribers in Toronto.

Comcast Vice President of Public Relations Bob Groves was still researching the situation early today and as of 8:30 a.m., hadn’t been able to comment, nor could a spokesman for Jefferson County Cable be reached for comment.
