Second ‘Off the Beaten Path’ tour set

WINTERSVILLE – The Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its second-annual “Off the Beaten Path” tour of the county from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 5.

The bus loads at 8 a.m. at the conservation district offices located at 587 Bantam Ridge Road.

The cost per participant is $25, with a group of three or more people being $20. Children cost $10 each.

The focus of the tour is forestry management. A visit to DeNoon Lumber Mill and Retail Shop and a stop at a working timber harvest site are planned.

Lunch will be catered at Austin Lake followed by a presentation from Ohio and Jefferson County Farm Bureau representatives. The day will close with a brief walk around the Austin Lake woodlot property led by a consulting forester and logging professionals.

There will be door prizes and giveaway items, according to organizers.
