Riverfest is set to return

NEW CUMBERLAND – The fifth-annual New Cumberland Fall Riverfest is set to return Sept. 28 and 29, with a variety of activities planned.

Activities for the festival will take place along River Avenue in the city.

A 5K walk/run, sponsored by the Physically Active Lifestyle Committee will begin with registration at 8 a.m. The cost is $15. The race will begin at 9 a.m.

The festival itself will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday, with an entertainment lineup, as well as craft and food vendors scheduled throughout the day.

John Edwards will perform at noon, followed by Kyler Kuzio, granddaughter of crafter John Kuzio, at 1 p.m.

A performance by Michelle’s Dance Studio will take place at 2 p.m., followed by Kent Cox at 3 p.m. and the Lazy River Band at 4 p.m.

The Silver Eagle Band will conclude the lineup with a performance at 6:30 p.m., ith a fireworks display capping off the day at 8:30 p.m.

The Hancock County Arts Council will, once again, hold its Local Artist’s Show during the Riverfest. Any local artist is invited to show their art for all to see. Participants are asked to bring their art to the Old City Building on Jefferson Street on Sept. 28 between 3 p.m. and 8 pm.

The festivities will continue Sept. 29 with a church service at 11 a.m., followed by a performance by Brad Peck at 12:30 p.m.

The Little Miss New Cumberland pageant will take place at 2 p.m.

A performance by the Buffington Brothers will help to bring the Riverfest to its end.
