Motorcyclist dies in collision
CADIZ – The driver of a motorcycle was killed Thursday morning after his bike collided with a tractor-trailer on U.S. Route 250 in Stock Township, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.
A tractor-trailer driven by Wayne E. Bouse, 61, of Sheridan, Ind., was driving a 1995 Kenworth tractor trailer was eastbound on U.S. Route 250 around 10:50 a.m. Thursday when he suddenly had to slow because of a stopped vehicle ahead, which was attempting to turn onto state Route 646, the patrol reported. Bouse lost control of the truck and it slid left of center, a trooper said.
A 1997 Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycle operated by Richard A. Brown, 70, of 298B Charleston St., Cadiz, was traveling in the opposite direction and was struck by the tractor-trailer, the patrol reported.
Brown’s motorcycle was shoved off the road into a guardrail and then caught fire, a trooper reported. Brown was killed in the accident, the patrol reported.
Robert R. Reppart, 53, of 329 E. Central St., Hopedale, was operating a 1980 Honda Goldwing motorcycle with Brown and laid his motorcycle down, with the bike striking the tractor-trailer, the patrol reported.
Reppart and the truck driver weren’t injured, the patrol reported
Neither Brown and Reppart was wearing a helmets, a trooper said.
The patrol reported the investigation is ongoing.
