WINTERSVILLE – Sue Hershey, president of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, will be retiring at the end of the year.
Chamber Chairman John Cucarese made the announcement at the end of Monday evening’s annual chamber banquet and business meeting at St. Florian Hall.
Hershey was named president in February of 2009.
The event also featured Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Excellence Awards presented to Ambassador of the Year Mary Free, manager of the US Bank in Brilliant; New Business of the Year to Dr. Greg McDonnell and Jodi Ferguson of McDonnell Chiropractic; Business Person of the Year to David Hindman of World Radio Telecommunications; Organization of the Year to Eastern Gateway Community College; and Lifetime Achievement to Jerry Barilla, who is active in many organizations, including his dedicated service to Historic Fort Steuben and the Steubenville Revitalization Group.
The evening featured an inspirational message from retired NFL and decorated Ohio State linebacker Chris Spielman. Wal-Mart made a $2,000 donation to the Stephanie Spielman Breast Cancer Research Fund. Spielman’s wife, his childhood sweetheart, died after a long battle with breast cancer, in 2009.
