9:25 p.m. Final manager candidate interview set
STEUBENVILLE — The sole remaining candidate for the city manager job will interview Saturday with City Council members and a seven member citizen committee.
Third Ward Councilman Greg Metcalf announced Wednesday evening one of the two final candidates withdrew his name after he was offered a city manager job in another community.
The council members met in executive session for 30 minutes Wednesday night to discuss their options.
Metcalf said the council listened to advice from Law Director S. Gary Repella who said the interview with the final candidate should proceed as scheduled.
“We will meet with the gentleman and determine if he is the right person for the job and he will decide if we are the right fit for him. We will hopefully make a decision Saturday,” said Metcalf.
“If this individual is not hired we will re-advertise for the city manager position and proceed from there,” added Metcalf.
Mayor Domenick Mucci has been serving as acting city manager since Cathy Davison resigned from the job in June.
