Local History Day set for Saturday
STEUBENVILLE – Local History Day will be celebrated Saturday at the Historic Fort Steuben Park with vendors and tours of the fort.
Judy Bratten, executive director of the Historic Fort Steuben, said guides will available to explain the history of the fort and the community.
“We will have reduced admission to the fort on Saturday. And, we will be playing the DVD ‘Sweet Memories of Steubenville,’ which includes a number of clips from Dean Martin movies and television shows where he refers to Steubenville. He truly loved his hometown and often referred to the city in his public appearances,” remarked Bratten.
“Also in conjunction with the Dean Martin Festival weekend we will have a number of Dean Martin souvenirs, including life-size posters of Dean Martin available for sale at the visitors center. We always have visitors looking for souvenirs and we have a great variety of items this year,” added Bratten.
“Kurt James Fun and Games will be set up in our park Saturday afternoon, and there will be a Dean Martin car cruise-in on South Third Street in front of the park,” she said.
“We will have several food vendors set up in the fort parking lot including Janet’s Gelato and shaved ice, as well as other businesses,” Bratten said.
“And approximately 12 vendors selling jewelry, candles and other crafts will be set up on the walkway in the park. Joining the vendors will be several organizations presenting their information,” Bratten remarked.
“This will be another great weekend for people to visit downtown Steubenville for the Dean Martin Festival and Local History Day,” Bratten said.
