Child Shine coming Saturday

STEUBENVILLE – The second-annual Child Shine Fashion Show is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Temple, 227 N. Fourth St.

Hosted by Uncle Woo, the show will feature local youth dressing up in style from dress-up wear to casual wear, school and after-school wear, according to organizers.

Children also are invited to “bring out their favorite teddy bear to their fancy fluffy slippers and robes,” according to the release. “The children will be able to display talent if they like, including singing, dancing, rap, poetry and more.”

The dance troupe from Tower of Power will be on hand to entertain, as well as the Pittsburgh-based R&B band S.C.R. and M.I.A. Starz, with members originally from Steubenville. M.I.A. Starz also will be filming a video for their song “All Glitter Everything,” and some local children might appear in the video, according to officials.

“We are striving hard to keep our youth doing positive things here in the ‘Ville,” said Dawud Abdullah, co-organizer. “This is our hometown, and we are proud of our youth. So come out as we let our youth shine.”
