Two plead guilty to Wellsburg robbery

WELLSBURG – Two Wellsburg men have pleaded guilty to the robbery of a local gas station and await their sentences in 1st Judicial Circuit Court.

Joseph Lee Henry Jr., 26, of 935 Yankee St., Wellsburg, and Brad J. Mac, 33, of 99 Ninth St., Wellsburg, each pleaded guilty to one count of grand larceny and one count of conspiring in connection with the May 1 robbery of the Wellsburg Exxon station.

The two appeared Thursday before Judge Ronald Wilson, who noted each faces one to five years in prison, a fine up to $10,000 or both for the charge of conspiracy and one to 10 years in prison or one year in jail and a $2,500 fine for the grand larceny charge.

Wilson is scheduled to sentence the pair on March 1.

The pleas are part of a proposed plea agreement that calls for each to pay half of $3,150 they stole from the gas station.

Assistant Brooke County Prosecutor David F. Cross said Mack, a former employee of the business, knew where to find the money and Henry distracted a clerk there while Mack removed it.
