Repairs set for water main regulator

STEUBENVILLE – The city water department will repair the main pressure regulator for the Alikanna section of Steubenville Thursday.

Assistant Water Superintendent Mike Wigal said water service for the Alikanna neighborhood will be interrupted from approximately 8 a.m. Thursday until the repair is completed.

“We are planning on this repair lasting most of Thursday morning and possibly the early afternoon. The repair is necessary to prevent the over pressurization of the water lines for this area,” said Wigal.

“We understand the inconveniences this repair will cause our consumers in the affected area and will be ready to answer questions and concerns that may arise. Our phone number is (740) 283-6041. We appreciate our customers’ patience during this repair project,” said Wigal.

Weirton crews smoke testing lines Friday

WEIRTON – City crews will be smoke testing sanitary sewer lines in the 3500 block between West and Main streets Friday.

Boil order in effect for some in Weirton

WEIRTON – Due to a line break, a boil order is in effect for residents living in the areas of Brooke Street, Labelle Avenue, Gullette Lane, Pleasant Avenue, Sycamore Street and Edgewood Avenue, city officials said Tuesday.

The line, located on Brooke Street, broke Tuesday morning. Once repairs were done, the lines must be flushed and refilled, then samples will be collected and analyzed to determine if any contamination occurred.

City officials say it takes at least 24 hours for the results.
