Quaker Day Saturday in Richmond

RICHMOND — Quaker Day 2018 will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crew House Museum located at 34 W. Main St., Richmond, and the area around it.

The annual attraction, sponsored by the Richmond Community Historical Society, will include kettle-cooked vegetable soup, tastes of homemade cobblers, pumpkins, apples and cider, country music, an antique tractor display, crafts, honey, a bake sale by the women of the Richmond United Presbyterian Church and some new vendors as well. The Richmond Lions Club will be selling food.

The historical society’s soup is available by the bowl for a donation and also by the quart for $5.

The Crew House Museum will be open to visitors and includes a variety of memorabilia about the village along with an extensive display of school items from Jefferson Union High School in the upstairs JU memorabilia area.

The historical society will have a variety of items for sale, including “In Richmond We Remember” T-shirts, $15; Richmond history books, $10; Crew House note cards, $7; Christmas ornaments, $6; “Richmond” pottery including mugs, $12, salt crocks, $20, and pitchers, $25; and JUHS nutcracker ornaments, $5.

At the historical society’s Sept. 11 meeting led by Judy, members finalized pans for Quaker Day which helps raise funds to maintain the museum, and noted the Music at the Gazebo event held in August was a success.

The historical society will be holding its annual Halloween dance on Oct. 27 at the Glenn Mills Community Senior Center, 7576 state Route 152 South, Richmond. Details will be announced for the event that is open to the public.
