After 36 holes of stroke play competition a sudden death playoff had to determine the club championship of the Steubenville Country Club Women’s Golf Association. Kim Criss and Pam DiDomenico both shot 185 to force the playoff.

After the first round of competition, which was played on Aug. 15, Criss held a two-stroke lead. On Aug. 22, the final round of the tournament, DiDomenico took a two-stroke lead after the front nine.

Several carts of spectators followed the women to watch the excitement build on the final nine holes of the tournament. Play on the challenging par 5 18th hole forced the playoff when DiDomenico’s shot to the green landed in a greenside bunker with Criss safely short of the green with her third shot.

They proceeded to the first playoff hole where Criss prevailed. Both women were applauded by the spectators for their outstanding play.

Following the tournament, a luncheon was held in the clubhouse grill room with golf professional John Denholm, who directed the event, offering a champagne toast to the winners. This marks Criss’ second club championship, her first coming in 2014.
