Laurels holds annual car show
STEUBENVILLE — The Laurels of Steubenville held its eighth-annual car show on July 22.
“Each year, the number of participants has continued to grow, and this year was no exception,” an event spokesperson said. “The weather was beautiful, the cars were sparkling, and the fellowship was as enjoyable as always.”
Each participant received an official Laurels car show T-shirt and had an opportunity to win a trophy in one of five categories.
This year’s winners included: John Baker for “Best of Show,” driving a purple 1949 Chevrolet pickup truck; John Bain for “Best Truck,” driving a black 1949 Chevrolet pickup truck; Butch Ford for “Resident Choice,” driving an orange 1965 Ford Mustang; Steve Welhorsky, administrator of The Laurels, for “Staff Choice,” driving a black 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat; and Bill Koehlein for “Rose’s Choice,” driving a red 2016 Chevrolet Corvette.
“This event is a favorite among the guests, residents, visitors and staff at The Laurels,” the spokesperson noted. The festivities were open to the public with music and entertainment provided by Tom Dowdel. Concessions and refreshments were served by The Laurels management staff.
All proceeds from the event benefit the activities department and assist with monthly musical entertainment, arts and craft supplies and taking the guests on community outings.
