NEW CUMBERLAND — President Don Deemer presided when the New Cumberland Lions Club met recently, introducing several guests.

They included 1st Vice District Gov. Gary Pitcock and Past District Gov. Bernice Pitcock. Bernice Pitcock inducted new members Jim Gillespie, sponsored by Bob Manypenny, and Cindy Skerbetz, sponsored by Deemer.

Don Greathouse offered the prayer, and Brian Webster led in opening ceremonies.

Gary Pitcock conducted the installation of officers.

A quilt is being completed for a fundraiser drawing in October. Tickets will be available in July.

Gary Pitcock reminded members that the District 26L car show will be held during the Labor Day weekend in the Highlands. Donations are needed as well as volunteers to work.

Deemer presented John Edwards with a centennial award for bringing in a new member.

Club members were reminded about June 14 being Flag Day and June 20 being West Virginia Day.

Dorothy Hawkes made an honorary presentation to Edwards, Joe Ghenne, Manypenny, Jennifer Meeker and Pam Stiles as new members of the New Cumberland Lions Club No Pain No Gain New Joint Club.

Manypenny reminded members that Saturday is the next pulled pork sale, and the schedule is full as of now.

The next meeting will be July 24 in the Methodist Church fellowship hall. It will be a covered-dish meal with meat provided.
