WEIRTON — The Garden Department of the Weirton Woman’s Club recently held their May meeting at the Ponderosa Golf Course with Chairman Carol Village welcoming members.

The inspiration was given by Patty Kaminski, who read an original poem titled “A Gardener’s Springtime.”

Teresa Conley gave the blessing and led in opening exercises. Village presented thank-you gifts to two of her officers — Teresa Conley, vice chairman, and Jeanne Amidon, recording secretary. She also introduced Barbara Raynolds, who conducted the installation of officers for the 2018-20 term.

Installed were: Ann Parsons, secretary; Kay Mortimer, treasurer; Lois Flemm, vice chairman; and Maralyn Ridgeway, chairman. Ridgeway thanked Raynolds for the installation and presented her with a gift. She then announced her committee chairmen and thanked all who agreed to accept a position.

The department will sponsor two students to Conservation Camp through the 4-H Program in Hancock County.

Door prizes, donated by Sharon Neeley, were won by Lois Flemm, Dawn Neeley, Barbara Raynolds and Teresa Conley. Table centerpieces were given to Village and Ridgeway.

The department will resume meetings in September.
