Ninth-annual Steubenville Valley Reunion set for June 22-23
SARASOTA, Fla. — The ninth-annual Steubenville Valley Reunion will be held June 22-23 in Saraosta with Sam and Donna Fornsaglio and Kevin and Anita Pestian again serving as hosts.
“Everyone from the Valley is invited,” writes Sam Fornsaglio. “The annual party continues to grow as a record 47 people came from seven states last year with six Valley schools represented.”
In its history, the reunion has attracted 101 visitors to Sarasota, ranging in age from 12 to 91 and traveling from 15 states.
Festivities will include a “meatball social” on June 22 in celebration of those making the journey to the Sunshine state. On June 23, Donna and Anita will take the non-golfers to breakfast while Sam will meet with the men and women golfers for the annual tournament. Last year’s winners — CCHS’s John Freeman of Kingswood, Texas, and Big Red’s Jeff Carneiro of Jupiter, Fla. — will return to defend their titles. There were no women golfers at the 2017 reunion.
After the golf tournament, there will be a cookout for all attending the reunion. Tournament champions will be recognized after the cookout, and outstanding Valley spirit awards will be presented. Last year’s woman’s award went to Catholic Central’s Amber Pestian, who recently returned from a tour with the Peace Corps. John Freeman received the men’s award for driving through a hurricane from Texas to attend.
“Just as a reminder, Sarasota is the home of the famous No. 1 beach in the world — Siesta Key Beach. Many of the attendees make a vacation out of the trip, staying a week before or after the reunion,” Sam writes.
“Donna, Anita, Kevin and I are working hard to make everyone’s trip to Sarasota a memorable occasion. Every year, Kevin has flown down Steubenville Bakery bread and buns and one year rocked the reunion by bringing DiCarlo’s Pizza,” noted Sam, who can be contacted for information at (941) 320-8381.
