50 years of worship
Two Weirton natives, West Liberty University President Stephen Greiner, left, and retired professor David Javersak, attended the WLU Interfaith Chapel celebration marking 50 years of campus service in December. An open house was held, with performances by the WLU Singers and a history presentation by Javersak, who also is an alumnus. The WLU Interfaith Chapel has been the site of alumni marriages, funerals and other ceremonies over the years. It is one of the few interfaith chapels found on public college campuses in the region. It was built during the tenure of former West Liberty President Paul N. Elbin, who also was an ordained minister. Architect for the structure was Tracy R. Stephens of Faris Associates and it includes a 175-seat worship center, six offices and an upper room for social gatherings.
