Two-day fundraiser to be held
at First UMC, Weirton
WEIRTON — First United Methodist Church, 3301 West St., will be holding a two-day collective goods “Books are Fun” fundraiser this weekend.
Items for purchase will be set up in the church’s foyer during the sale, which will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Adults: Make a craft on Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. Register and find out what’s being made by calling the library.
Children: Play and Learn the Alphabet, for parents with children ages 2-6, will be held Dec. 4 at 11:15 a.m. This is a one-hour program that uses letter-learning toys to promote early literacy skills.

Children: Story Time, for children ages 5-10, will be held Dec. 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Children will listen to stories, sing songs and make an art project. Register by calling the library.

Tot Time, for parents and children ages 2-4, will be on Mondays at 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 and 11 and on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. or at 11 a.m. on Dec. 5 and 12. New this year is that registration is not required.
Play and Learn, for parents with children birth to 4, will be at 10:30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6. This is an hour-long play session that encourages children to love the library at an early age.

Mingo Senior Center plans
Christmas party for Dec. 9
MINGO JUNCTION — The Mingo Senior Center at 663 Commercial St. will hold its Christmas party on Dec. 9, beginning at 1 p.m.
Center Director Diane Pernick said the festivities will include food, prizes, a 50-50 drawing, games, music and drawings.

Annual memberships for the Mingo Senior Center are $12 per person or $20 per couple. Membership is $5 for the Shanagu Club.
Pernick reported the center’s Halloween party “was a blast” and expressed appreciation to Millie Huggins for her help, volunteer hours and prizes.
She also expressed gratitude to Jeff Schuetz who provided funnel cakes at the center on Nov. 15.
The center’s weekly events schedule includes:

¯ Tuesdays: 500 Club, 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
¯ Wednesdays: Blood pressure readings, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Shanagu, 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

¯ Fridays: Bingo, puzzle or games, 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“We have a young man entertaining us every Wednesday here at the center,” Pernick said. “His name is Emmanuel Gessler. He is a great piano player,” she added, noting he plays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
‘Color Me Calm’ dates are announced at Gathering Place
PARIS, Pa. — The Gathering Place Coffee Shop at Paris Presbyterian Church, 127 Steubenville Pike, will host “Color Me Calm” on Tuesday and Dec. 9, beginning at 10 a.m.
The adult coloring session offers a time of fellowship and relaxation, according to a spokesperson. The event is free and open to the public.

Breakfast with Santa Dec. 16
at New Manchester VFD
NEW MANCHESTER– The New Manchester Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting “Breakfast with Santa” from 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 16.
The cost is $5 per person for all-you-can-eat pancakes. Guests are invited to bring their own cameras and take pictures with Old St. Nick.
All proceeds will benefit the fire department.
Advent program planned at
St. Joseph the Worker Church
WEIRTON — St. Joseph the Worker Church, 229 California Ave, will host an Advent program Wednesday, beginning at 7 p.m.
It will be presented by the Franciscan Sisters T.O.R. of Steubenville. The evening’s theme will be “What Are You Waiting For?”
Refreshments will follow. All are welcome to attend.
