Guild donates to the Grand

-- Janice Kiaski

For the eighth year, the Ohio Valley Music Guild has made a $1,000 donation toward the Grand Theater Restoration Project, an occasion celebrated when guild representatives presented the latest installment to Scott Dressel, back, president of the Grand Theater Restoration Project. Guild representatives on hand were, front, from left, Judi Gaynor, Josephine Irvine-Groves, Liz Morelli, Toni Dondzila and Joyce Ryan-Orlando. “A lot is going on at the Grand, the most noticeable being the work on the front facade,” Dressel said. “This will almost complete the entrance renovations and the renovations to the annex building just to the south of the theater as well. We will still have the store front in between them to complete and some work on the doors,” he continued. “Restoration of the Wurlitzer pipe organ continues, and our volunteers, led by Joseph Humpe, meet every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on occasional weekdays. Our next open house is Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the Steubenville Christmas Parade is happening,” Dressel said. “We are currently seeking a match of a state of Ohio grant of $75,000 to begin work on the ornamental plaster in the main theater.
